8/10 Bioshock: A decent generalist FPS carried by its top-notch audiovisual presentation, truly a game that demands to be played with headphones on. The boss fights at the end of the game are pretty underwhelming but mindless civilian carnage remains entertaining throughout the run of the campaign. 7/10 Destroy All Humans!: Top-tier lowbrow carnage supported by good visual presentation and cutscene direction. Slow goings for me this month, tried to get through more long form AAA titles than I've been playing for most of the year: Unravel: Starts off pretty slow and tries too hard to set a sentimental tone, but later stages justify itself and the graphics do a good job making the relatively mundane environments seem grandiose. That's my current plans for October, but a lot of stuff changes with what I play. Killzone 2 will have to wait among many other games I want to get through. I'm also continuing my Sniper Elite binge as well and will be going through the full release of Prodeus hopefully on Game Pass since I felt like playing it on there.

As I'm getting ready for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (2022) next month, I'm attempting to complete Modern Warfare (2019) which I'm having a really good time with. Soldier of Fortune was another game I ended up finishing and despite the excellent gore system, overpowered weapons and fantastic gunplay, it has not aged gracefully and is repetitive, features a weak story, has audio glitches, jittery controls while on moving objects and obtuse level design that's frustrating. Well worth your time and I feel this might be the version of Half-Life I play from here on out since it feels surprisingly more polished than the original release. I felt compared to other remasters and remakes which attempt to make Half-Life "Better" or "More Improved" and fail miserably, I really enjoyed Restored! It didn't destroy the developer's intent or game integrity and just enhanced a bunch of things like the graphics while also adding a couple of new things back into the game. Half-Life: Restored (PC, 09/06, 9/10) Soldier of Fortune (PC, 09/24, 6/10) Half-Life: Restored is by far the best thing I played all month. Two games this month! One mod and one new game.
